The contract, which has been signed with the public authority Brest (Belarus) on
15th of January 2009 for the erection of a Mechanical Biological Waste Treatment Plant, has come into force on 14th April 2009.
The facility will be erected by STRABAG Umweltanlagen GmbH as a turnkey contract and has a capacity of 100.000 tpy Municipal Solid Waste. It consists of a sorting plant for the recycling of valuable recyclables as well as of an anaerobic digestion plant with biogas production, using the proven STRABAG digestion process (LARAN ® plug flow reactor).
The Plant, which has already got planning approval, has an order value of more than 40 Mio EURO, should be mechanically completed by end of 2010 and commissioned by mid of 2011.
Beside the sludge treatment plant (approx. 500,000 P.E.) at the same site (already in realization by STRABAG Umweltanlagen GmbH), which also produces biogas in an anaerobic digestion plant (2 LARAN ® loop reactors; 5,300 m3 each), the Mechanical Biological Waste Treatment Plant completes a trendsetting Waste and Waste Water Treatment facility in Belarus.
The produced biogas from both plants is converted into electrical and thermal energy in combined heat and power engines. The energy is used on site.
