New incoming order (23 Mio): turnkey biowaste digestion plant for city cleaning Berlin (Berliner Stadtreinigung - BSR)

Berlins’ city cleaning and waste collecting company Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) has entrusted STRABAG Umweltanlagen GmbH together with STRABAG AG for the engineering, delivery, erection, start-up and trial run for a turnkey biowaste digestion plant with a capacity of 60 000 tpy. The contract value is approx. 23 Mio Euro.
Within the joint venture, STRABAG Umweltanlagen is responsable for the process design, the mechanical and electrical part of the plant, the start-up and the trial run.
STRABAG AG, sub-division Berlin-Brandenburg will realise the building construction & civil engineering works.
The plant consists of a mechanical pre-treatment plant for source separated collected biowaste, the digestion step for the biogas production with the patented STRABAG dry digestion technology of the LARAN® plug flow digester as well as the composting of the dewatered digestion residuals and a two-step exhaust air treatment.
The produced biogas is upgraded to the quality of natural gas by using the pressureless amine gas-treatment according to the BCM-process.
The biogas shall be fed into the gas network and will be used as fuel for BSR’s own vehicle fleet.
